What Colour Shoes To Wear With Your Suit

Owning a suit is an essential part of being a man. It is almost a rite of passage. From an adolescent boy to an emerging adult, the suit solidifies your arrival to the adult world.  Whether you wear one for work every day or only pull it out for special occasions, you need to wear it right! One of the big mistakes that occurs when organising a suit is colour combinations, in particular ensuring the colour of your shoes match. This easy to understand guide will give you all the pointers you need wear your suit right. 

You have most likely seen a mismatched situation before. The guy dressed in a decent suit, his tie (or bow tie) is on point, his shirt perfectly ironed, cufflinks are doing their job and his lapels are looking sharp – then your eyes fall to his shoes and...oh jeez. Sure, they are  clean, buffed up to a nice shine, but they just don’t work. Most of the time it's because the colour simply isn’t one that matches the suit, and this can really change up the look of the outfit.

To help you out, below is a simplified cheat sheat for which colour shoes to wear. 

Suit Colour Shoe Colour
Dark Grey Suits

Stick with black shoes or if you are feeling a bit adventurous, burgundy also works. 

Light Grey Suits Black shoes, light brown shoes and burgundy work with this suit colour.
Cream or Beige Suits Light brown shoes or white shoes are the go.
Black Suits Black shoes. Only ever black shoes.
Navy Suits

Black, brown or burgundy will work with Navy Suits
